About the event
Join us for the DC Latinx LGBTQ History Tour, a bilingual walking tour led by local historian and activist José Gutiérrez. Together, we’ll explore the powerful stories, people, and places that have shaped the Latinx LGBTQ community in Washington, DC.
This free walking tour includes stops at historic locations like Salud Inc., one of the first Latino HIV/AIDS organizations in DC, as well as El Faro, the first Latinx LGBTQ bar in the city. We’ll also visit Noa Noa, Perry’s, El Migueleno, and Churreria Madrid, with stories that bring our history to life.
Along the way, José will also share the legacy of key groups and spaces including ENLACE, LLEGO, GELAAM, Empodérate at La Clínica del Pueblo, Restaurant Haydee’s, LCDP, LAYC, and La Casa de la Cultura.
